Pastor Lum's Retirement Celebration - Cupcake Tree

After serving as Lord's servant for 20 years, our beloved Pastor Lum is retirement so he could focus more on the mission work in China.

Our family has a special bond with Pastor Lum because he was the ceremony in charge for our baptism, our parents' baptism, our wedding, our children's child dedications, our grandmother's funeral, etc.  Our family went through many ups and downs with Pastor Lum.  He always supported us with his prayers and comforting words.  So it was my honor to help our in celebrating his retirement.

Because my refrigerator is not big enough to fit a flat sheet cake for 150 - 200 people, so I decided to do cupcakes instead.  To display the cupcakes, of course I need to shop for a cupcake stand.  After looking around on the web and considering the cost of getting the stand, I decided to use the CupcakeTree cupcake stand.  It was only $40 from Amazon.  Though this is made for one-time use only, I wrapped the whole thing in foil, hoping I won't grease the stand cardbroad therefore I can reuse it for at least once or twice.

Wrapping the whole cupcake tree in foil was very time consuming, but it was necessary (if I want to reuse it) and it made the whole stand would look nicer.  On the contrary, the border was pretty easy to make and rather quick to glue them on.

It was my first time using Wilton's sugar sheet on a cake.  I am very timid to use fondant, so sugar sheet naturally became my next choice.  I like the pre-printed pattern on sugar sheet, also how easy they are to lie on top of the buttercream and on one another.

Couple close up pictures of the border of the cupcake tree and the cupcakes.  Some of the whipped cream icing was messed up when transferring them from the cupcake box, into the wrapper, then on the stand.  By the way, I also hand-made those wrappers myself, using Martha Stewart's circle edge puncher.  They turned our really nice.

Center pieces and chocolate seashells.  Both the vase, rocks, gems, and the candy bowls are from Dallar Tree.  The flower is from some lady's backyard.  The placement for the center piece is also made from using Martha Stewart's circle edge puncher.

Bible verse printed party favor.  There's a magnet included in the bag.  The guests can make this into a magnet for the wall, or use the ribbon insert into the hole and made this into a bookmark.
